When Lord Jagannath Paid for a Devotee’s Daughter’s Wedding

Verse of the Day

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत। अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्॥

Bhagavad Gita 4.7

A poor father in Bhubaneswar could not pay his daughter’s wedding. The temple of Jagannath was beside the Ganga river. He walked to the mandir every morning to pray. His heart felt heavy, knowing love needed a price.

He sang simple bhajans, asking Lord Jagannath for help. His mother whispered, 'Faith is our only wealth.' He listened to his guru's words about surrender. Then he pledged, 'I will give what I can.'

One night, the temple door opened with a new box. Inside was a huge amount of money, no name written. People gasped, but the father did not ask who. His eyes filled with hope and disbelief.

He touched the money and felt a cool breeze. Soft light shone, and a voice said, 'All is given.' The father bowed, feeling the presence of Lord Jagannath. He thanked silently, knowing this gift was divine.

"Love is the best giver of gifts."

An elder told him, 'Never take what is not yours.' He remembered the guru's lessons on humility. He vowed to share the money with the poor. His heart felt light, as if lifted.

Later that day, he offered a small prasadam to the temple. Everyone sang kirtan, and the temple rang with joy. He felt the Lord smile, hearing his prayers. He promised to help others when he could.

The story teaches that faith can bring unseen help. When we ask with pure heart, the Lord answers. The gift was not only money, but hope. It shows that Lord Jagannath loves all sincere hearts.

If you feel sad, remember this story. Give a small prayer, trust the Lord, and hope. Your faith can bring your own blessings.
